BHADRAVATHI: A senior citizen was defrauded of over one lakh rupees after a stranger swapped his ATM card under the pretext of helping him at an ATM center located in front of the KSRTC bus stand.
The victim, Sadashivappa G.K. from Siddharoodhanagara, had visited the Canara Bank ATM to withdraw cash. When the machine failed to dispense money, he sought assistance from an unidentified individual, aged approximately 25 to 30 years, who was present at the kiosk. It is alleged that the suspect took Sadashivappa’s ATM card, observed the PIN, and then cleverly swapped it with another card before returning it to him.
Unaware of the swap, Sadashivappa returned home. He later discovered that a total of ₹1,18,700 had been withdrawn from his account in several installments. Based on the complaint filed by the victim, a case has been registered at the Bhadravathi New Town Police Station.
