BHADRAVATHI: The 4th Additional District and Sessions Court in Bhadravathi has awarded the death sentence to a woman and her lover for the murder of her husband. The court also imposed a combined fine of ₹14 lakh on the convicts.
The convicts, Flora Nancy, a resident of Suragitopu, and her paramour Rajashekharayya, were involved in an illicit relationship. According to the prosecution, they decided to eliminate Nancy’s husband, Prakash Babu, as he was an obstacle to their affair.

On January 15, 2020, the duo drugged Prakash Babu with a sedative before suffocating him to death. Following the incident, a case was registered at the Paper Town police station. Police Inspector Manjunath E.O. conducted the investigation and submitted the chargesheet.
After examining the evidence, Judge Indira Mailaswami Chettiar found both Nancy and Rajashekharayya guilty. Apart from the death penalty, the court ordered a fine of ₹14,00,000. Out of this amount, ₹5,00,000 is to be paid as compensation to the complainant. Public Prosecutor Ratnamma P. represented the government in the case.
