Shivamogga: Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds and thunder in the evening caused significant property damage in various parts of Shivamogga city. Water entered buildings in low-lying areas, and several vehicles were submerged.
This evening, the city experienced over an hour of heavy rainfall with thunder. Strong winds uprooted tree branches, leading to further damage.
Due to the heavy rain, drains overflowed, and water spilled onto the roads. In many areas, waterlogging disrupted traffic. On K.R. Puram Road, water entered buildings near the circle, and vehicles were partially submerged.
On Jail Road, clogged drains caused rainwater to overflow onto the streets, disrupting vehicle movement. On B.H. Road, from Shankaramath to near Ather Showroom, water stagnated on both sides of the road, forcing commuters to navigate carefully. Traffic jams were reported for some time.
In Sharavathi Nagar’s 2nd Cross of Hosamane Colony, a tree branch broke and fell, damaging two parked cars. In Ragi Gudda, rainwater entered houses in low-lying areas, damaging groceries and other household items.
The heavy rain, wind, and thunder disrupted evening business activities in the city. Fearing more rain, people avoided going out, leading to a decline in weekend commercial activity.
