Rain Disrupts BJP’s ‘Janakrosha Yatre’ in Shivamogga

Shivamogga: The BJP’s ‘Janakrosha Yatre’ (People’s Anger March), organized to protest against the state government over rising prices of essential commodities, was disrupted by heavy rain. The protest march began at Ramanashreshti Park and proceeded to Gopi Circle, where an open meeting was planned.

Rain Interrupts the Rally

As soon as the meeting began, heavy rain accompanied by thunder and strong winds lashed the area. Despite the weather, BJP leaders continued their speeches on stage. State BJP President B.Y. Vijayendra addressed the gathering amid the rain. However, as the intensity of the downpour increased, party workers sought shelter under nearby buildings, while some sat under the stage’s canopy.

Stage Shakes Due to Strong Winds

The strong winds caused the protest stage to sway dangerously. The flex banners installed at the back of the stage tore and nearly collapsed. BJP workers rushed to hold them up, but the force of the wind eventually ripped the flex apart. By then, leaders had already stepped down from the stage.

Vijayendra Hoisted on Shoulders in the Rain

In a dramatic moment, BJP workers lifted state president B.Y. Vijayendra on their shoulders and danced in the rain at Gopi Circle. Supporters, who had taken shelter under nearby buildings, cheered and recorded the scene on their mobile phones.

However, due to the heavy rain, thunder, and strong winds, the BJP’s ‘Janakrosha Yatre’ was cut short. The protest, intended to voice public anger against inflation, faced an unexpected hurdle from nature.
