SHIVAMOGGA: The 4th Additional District and Sessions Court in Bhadravathi has sentenced a man to two years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹50,500 for caste-based abuse and issuing death threats.
The accused, A.V. Suresh (54), a resident of Agaradahalli in Bhadravathi taluk, was performing welding work at his residence. When his neighbors requested him to stop the work as it was disturbing their children’s studies, Suresh reportedly abused them with foul language and issued death threats. Furthermore, a complaint was filed at the Holehonnur Police Station alleging that Suresh intercepted the neighbors on an Agaradahalli pathway and subjected them to caste-based insults.

Then DySP Umesh Ishwar Nayak conducted the investigation and submitted the charge sheet. Following the trial, Judge Indira Mailaswamy Chettiar delivered the verdict, awarding the prison sentence and fine. The court’s order, as per a police release, also specified that ₹25,000 of the fine amount be paid to the complainant as compensation.
