Youth Congress lays siege to MP BY Raghavendra’s residence

SHIVAMOGGA: The Shivamogga District Youth Congress Committee staged a massive protest on Wednesday against the alleged leak of the NEET exam question paper. Demanding accountability, the protesters attempted to lay siege to the residence of Member of Parliament B.Y. Raghavendra in Vinobhanagar.

The activists accused the BJP-led Central Government of failing to maintain transparency and failing to safeguard the future of millions of medical aspirants.

The protesters alleged that while the UPA government introduced NEET in 2012 to ensure merit-based admissions, the current administration has compromised the system’s integrity. They pointed out that a similar controversy in 2024 was suppressed by the government, and the sudden cancellation of exams now confirms the security lapse.

The demonstration turned tense at Police Chowki Circle as protesters tried to march toward the MP’s house, leading to a heated scuffle with the police. Officers eventually detained several Youth Congress members to bring the situation under control. Several leaders, including District Congress President Prasanna Kumar and Youth Congress President Harshit Gowda, Chetan Gowda, Madhusudhan took part in the agitation.
