SHIVAMOGGA: The Jayanagar police have arrested a man who had been evading court proceedings for the last six years. The arrested individual has been identified as John Bharath (30), a resident of Venkatesh Nagar.

In 2019, a case was registered against Bharath at the Jayanagar police station for preparation for dacoity and assembling for the purpose of committing dacoity. Although the trial was ongoing, the accused had failed to appear before the court since the case began.

Following his continuous absence, the 1st Additional Civil and JMFC Court in Shivamogga issued a long-pending arrest warrant against him. Acting on this, a police team led by Jayanagar Inspector Ravi Patil, including PSI Komala, HC Chandru, and PC Ganesh, tracked down and apprehended the suspect. According to a police statement, ‘the accused was produced before the court on April 11 and has been remanded to judicial custody’.
