Shivamogga: The Nagarika Hitarakshana Vedikegala Okktu staged a protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office, condemning the failure to remove electric poles even after underground cabling was installed in the city.
The protesters alleged that underground cabling was installed in Shivamogga city at a cost of about ₹300 crore by MESCOM and Smart City authorities. Despite this, the old electric poles have been left in place. They claimed that the poles on both sides of the road are causing severe inconvenience to vehicular traffic and parking.
The protestors demanded that the officials call a meeting to address the removal of the electric poles. They urged the authorities to set a schedule and remove all the old poles. The demonstrators warned that the nature of their struggle would be intensified if the issue is not resolved.
Key leaders present included K.V. Vasanthakumar, Satish Kumar Shetty, Ashok Kumar, Seetharam, Janamejirao, Dr. Srinivas, Channaveerappa Gamanagatti, among others.
